In the year 1972, Aldo was created by Aldo Bensadoun following a familial shoe affiliation. The first stores opened up in Canadian cities such as Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City, and Winnipeg. By 1978, Aldo launched the first stand-alone store in Montreal.

Over the coming decades, the company was growing throughout Canada and then going international. Hence, Aldo went to Israel in 1995, Saudi Arabia in 2001, the UK in 2002, and Singapore in 2003. With almost 3,000 stores in about 100 countries, including India, both the online and mall retail avenues are aplenty for Aldo products by 2025.

Over the years, Aldo named other stores such as Spring and Little Burgundy. The company lived through the difficult 2020 and still remained a family-owned business.
